Our method, which we call Eulerian Video Magnification, takes a standard video sequence as input, and applies spatial decomposition, followed by temporal filtering to the frames. The resulting signal is then amplified to reveal hidden information.Using our method, we are able to visualize the flow of blood as it fills the face and also to amplify and reveal small motions.
Eulerian video magnification is a set of simple and robust algorithms that can reveal and analyze tiny motions. It is a new type of microscope, not made of optics, but of software taking an ordinary video as input and producing one in which the temporal changes are larger.

Project 2: Eulerian Video Magnification Jun-Yan Zhu. Overview In this project, I implemented a recent SIGGRAPH paper "Eulerian Video Magnification" [Wu et al, 2012] from MIT Computer Graphics group. This paper explores the same topic "Motion magnification" as [Liu et al. 2005] but in a different perspective (Eulerian analysis).
We present Eulerian Video Magnification, a computational technique for visualizing subtle color and motion variations in ordinary videos by making the variations larger. It is a microscope for small changes that are hard or impossible for us to see by ourselves.

At this summer’s Siggraph — the premier computer-graphics conference — researchers from MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) will present new software that amplifies variations in successive frames of video that are imperceptible to the naked eye. This project uses much of the C++ implementation from kgram007/Eulerian-Motion-Magnification, but removes some redundant steps and adds concurrency where possible to make processing a streaming video more performant. So I've actually tried to implement Eulerian video magnification myself, albeit using Python, because I believe when I first looked into this, ~5 year ago, the code was MatLab only. I was really excited about it, because, as a cardiologist, I immediately thought we could use this to identify irregular heart beats in the patient waiting room, for example.
